Marketing is Key.

I have recently decided to downsize my client list. I found with my new marriage and my daughters graduation, I have more time to persue other avenues that I have always wanted to do.

What pushed me into this decision was simple. Over the past four months it has become abundently clear. Either my contracts are confusing, or people are reading what they want between the lines. Plus, my ability to be God, is, well, beyond my ability.

I want everyone to understand one frustating point - if you are asking for more traffic and higher rankings in the search engines - then you are NOT asking for more sales. Let me explain: rankings and traffic do not necessarily equate to more sales. It may be your desired effect, but there are just so many more factors to consiter for more sales - and that means MARKETING.

From a marketing standpoint - your product must be displayed in a manner that not only peaks the consumers interest, but intices them to "walk into your store" and buy.

Note that I said "marketing". THAT is the difference. I have sold hundrends of Search Engine packages - and over several years discovered the customer wanted higher traffic AND sales. Now, that is normal - that is exactly what they should want. However, that is NOT the package they normally buy. I offered it, explained what a marketing package is versus SEO, but still, 95% went for SEO alone.

However, In many cases, it comes back to "Why I am not making any sales." "Are you really submitting my site to ALL the search engines?" "Why can't I get to the top for the keywords I want?"

--------------------------------------------------------------

Terms like "chocolate" command almost 12 Million results - ....
You simply cannot expect to jump in and say
"Hey! my site is better - put me at the top."
You have to earn it.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Now, let me ask you something?

  1. Does the world know your name like they know Bill Gates? Why Not?

  2. Do you even KNOW how many websites there are? And of those web sites - how many are competing for the same keywords?

  3. Can I "make" a Search Engine index your site?

It's called competition. And to better your standings and get more sales - it's called marketing. And, when it comes to the Internet - IT TAKES TIME! Lots and Lots of time.

You will have to accept that certain keywords are out of your reach - at least for the moment. Terms like "chocolate" command almot 12,000,000 results - and you WANT to compete for the top 10? Many of those sites have been up for years - marketing and advertising their way to the top. You simply cannot explect to jump in and say "Hey! my site is better - put me at the top." You have to earn it.

The world knows Bill Gates because he made them know him. He marketed himself as a boy genius - and built an empire. He competed with the millions of websites and ended up on top.

Now, he's facing another challenge - MSN vs Google. What is he doing? He's promoting that he, Bill Gates, will be rolling out a new competitor "probably as early as next year. " And how is he going to get people to notice the new and improved MSN? By advertising and marketing.

I cannot make a search engine list your site. All I can do is submit it. However, if I provide marketing, then I attempt to help you build a site that not only will the Search Engines WANT to list - but potential customers will want to BUY.

The internet may be instant knowledge - but it takes time for your site to get a firm foothold on keyterms you want; to achieve the standings you want. Just remember - marketing is the Hub in the wheel of your sites' success.
